Create Child Profile

“Tootaa” journey begins with building a profile for each child to ensure that your journey with your child in the app is appropriate for their age, gender, and targeted behaviors.

During profile creation, “Tootaa” allows you to choose a variety of targeted behaviors in addition to specifying the child’s age, gender, and name.

“Tootaa” allows you to create multiple profiles for up to four children.

Choose Targeted Behaviors

“Tootaa” assigns a profile page for each of your children, displaying the targeted behaviors you have chosen for them.

You will gain access to a carefully curated set of stories depending on the specific bahaviours you have chosen in the beginning to assist you in working with your child on that behavior, with the most appropriate story for your child displayed at the top.

While the story suggested at the top fits perfectly with your child’s age, gender, and needs, other stories are also suitable and reinforce the same behavior in different aspects.

Read Story to Your Child

Now, you will start reading the story to your child and interacting with its text and pictures.

The story in “Tootaa” combines creative imagination with positive narration to spark the child’s desire to adopt positive behavior.

It is important to note that the stories deliberately avoid direct, value-based narrative. This is to refrain from using the preaching method and instead deliver messages to children in subtle, but more effective ways. This component is compensated for in the next stops in the journey.

Ask Questions and Listen Carefully to Your Child

In our journey, we will arrive at the meditation station where we will provide you with questions to ask the child.

The questions enable the child to reflect on what s/he has learned from the story, as well as enable parents to understand their child’s way of thinking and the challenges they face.

The questions are designed to enhance your child’s critical thinking while the answers will develop their emotional and social intelligence and enhance their self-awareness.

It is acceptable to ask additional questions that are not addressed in the story as well as to engage in a constructive, nonjudgmental, and calm discussion with the children about their responses.

Participate in an Activity with Your Child to Reinforce Positive Behavior

We are now at the planning station, or what we call the infernal plan, which is a tool for both children and parents to incorporate practical ways to increase the child’s chances of attaining his/her behavioral goals, and adopting positive behavior.

This stage helps your child understand how to apply what they learned from the stories in their day-to-day life.

This part may include advice on ways to deal with specific situations related to the targeted behavior. Alternatively, it may include practical activities and exercises, or assigning him/her a task.

Motivate Your Child With Rewards

At this stage, we arrive at the support station, where badges or motivational awards are given to the child as moral reinforcement.

Moral rewards rely on internal stimulation to motivate children to choose and practice positive behavior and to remain consistent with this behaviour on the long run, even in the absence of their parents’ supervision or any material rewards.

Finally, we arrive at the awareness station, which is a pedagogical highlight for you in relation to the behavior you would like to work on with your child.

In this station, we will provide you with simple and practical parental tips about the targeted behavior(s) in relation to your child’s age, based on the latest scientific, educational, and psychological research.
